Audience-familiar podcast collaboration, marketing and growth using data from Lenny.fm

Short version
- You can see which other podcasts your supporters are supporting.
- Collaborate with other podcasts and grow.
- The more supporters (free or paid), the opportunities you'll find!
I started Lenny.fm while running a podcast production company, Nearly Media.
The pain point was real - how do we get money for making our shows without the pressure to make additional/derivative content?
So we went through the process of designing a revenue stream that could work for just about any podcast, using any tech.
Today, our shows use Lenny.fm to monetize in parallel with ads.
Going through the data on Lenny I realised we'd gathered the beginnings of a map that shows our Listeners' listening preferences.
Data from listeners who support podcasts (free or paid) shows the amount of crossover audience.
As your show gathers supporters it's easy to find other shows that you share an audience with.
We let our audience know which podcasts they also supported, which might help some other listeners find a great new show.

It became a great talking point on our social media groups and I think some listeners found a new podcast to enjoy.
But that's the least we could do with the data.
With supporter data from Lenny.fm you could grow your audience and open up new opportunities through collaboration.
- Guest on another podcast that you know is popular with your audience.
- Invite a relevant guest on from another podcast
- Run a double- or triple-feature event with podcasts identified in your listener data
- Swap notes on marketing/listener engagement
- Organise a collective pitch for bigger name guests
- Adopt successful techniques used by other podcasts your audience listens to
- Do a collaboration episode
Let me know if you think of any others.
